Mayoori Kango

Indian Actress

Actress Mayoori Kango joins Google India as industry heads . The 90's actress Mayoori kango whom many might remember as the " GHAR SE NIKALTE HI , KUCH DOOR CHALTE HI " girl is now industry head in Google India .

Kango will be leading Google's engagement with Publicis and DAN . Before joining Google india, Mayoori has worked as a Managing Director in Performics which is a part of Publicis Groupe.The former Bollywood actress has been instrumental in engaging and retaining accounts of firms like Uber , Airtel and Nestle.

Mayoori made her acting debut at the age of 15 . She was featured in SAEED AKHTAR MIRZA'S national award winning film " NASEEM " in which she had shared the screen with Kaifi Azmi , Seema Kelkar and Kay Kay Menon.

She later appeared in movies like :  PAPA KEHTE HAIN ( 1996) ,  BETAABI (1997) , HOGI PYAAR KI JEET ( 1999) , PAPA THE GREAT (2000) and BADAL ( 2000). Kango has also worked in daily soaps like : KAAHIN KISSII ROZ , KITTIE PARTY , KKUSUM and KYA HADSAA KYA HAQUEEQAT.

 

Amal Clooney

British-Lebanese Barrister

Amal Cloooney , the international law and human rights barrister , has been appointed the U.K's special envoy on media freedom , as the U.K prepares to host an international conference on media freedom this July in the wake of the attacks on journalists across the world . 

Ms. Clooney pointed to India as one of the five countries where journalists were most at the risk of " political assassinataion of their work" , alongside Brazil , as she also noted that such attacks also happened in Europe as well , with the assassination of the Maltese journalist Daphne  Caruana Galizia . She also highlighted the brutal murder of Jamal Khashoggi in the Saudi consulate in Instanbul last year.

Ms . Clooney will chair a panel of legal experts who will work to " support countries to repeal outdated and draconian laws and strengthen legal mechanisms to protect journalists." Among the steps that could be taken by the panel include making proposals to countries of concern around national laws that don't comply with the international standards , particularly around issues such as blasphemy and overly stringent anti-defamation rules.

 

David Malpass

President of the World Bank

Senior U.S. Treasury official David Malpass was appointed President of the World bank Group , placing a loyalist of President Donald Trump at the helm of the development lender . Malpass was unanimously selected to serve a five-year term from April 9 . 

Trump nominated Malpass in february , choosing a loyal supporter who had been sharply critical of China and called for a shakeup of the global economic order . Critics including Nobel laureate Joseph Stiglitz questioned the selection , pointing to Malpass's doubt about international cooperation . But no other countries proposed any candidates to challenge Malpass , making his selection by the board all but assured.

Before his nomination , Malpass portrayed the World Bank as too big , inefficient and reluctant to cut finding for developing countries that grow into dynamic emerging markets . He pushed the bank to lend less to China , arguing that the world's second-biggest economy has the financial resources to support itself.

 

Janak Kumar Garg

Commisioner of Metro Railway Safety

Senior Bureaucrat Janak Kumar Garg is appointed as the Commisioner of Metro Railway Safety (CMRS).

CMRS is entrusted with the task of ensuring safety of the metro railways network.

Garg is an Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers ( IRSEE ) officer . According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training  (DoPT) , he has been appointed as CMRS in the Commission of Railway Safety till the date of his superannuation.
